This lake was known as Kha-Chot-Palri, which means the heaven of Padmasambhava – A Sage Guru. The whole lake is surrounded by the hills and dense huge forest. Hanuman Tok is a Hindu temple which is located in Gangtok, Sikkim. The temple is dedicated to lord Hanuman, the Monkey God. According to the local people they said that, when Hanuman was flying with the “Sanjeevani” mountain to save Ram’s brother Lakshman he rested there for some time and know at that places this temple Hanuman Tok has been built. It is also one of the most popular tourist spot in Gangtok.

  • Gurudongmar lake

Gurudongmar Lake, located in North Sikkim at a distance of 175 km from Gangtok, is situated at an altitude of 16890 feet. Gurudongmar is also one of the highest lakes in the world. The scenic beauty of the lake is surrounded with dense and huge forest. It is believed that the water of Gurudongmar Lake has the miraculous power of granting children to the parents who don’t have any child. The best time to visit the Gurudongmar Lake is in between the months of March and May. Gurudongmar is a must visit place if you are traveling to Gangtok.

The Namgyal Institute of Tibetology is a unique Tibetan museum located in the city of Gangtok. The museum is built with traditional Tibetan architecture, Tibetan culture, religion, art, history and language. In the museum there is a large collection of Buddhist books and manuscripts, valuable Tibetan cloth paintings called thangkas, statues, human thighbone trumpets, and a kapali, bowl made of human skull etc. it is also one of the famous tourist spot in Gangtok, Sikkim.

How to Reach?

By Car

The distance to Gangtok from Delhi is about 1600 km which is nearly a 28 hour drive. So, if you want to go Gangtok by car is not the one off the best option because it is a 28 hour long drive which is to difficult. So it is advisable to take taxi from new jalpaiguri to gangtok or take a taxi from bagdogra to gangtok.

By Train

The closest railway station in Gangtok is at Jalpaiguri which is about 125km away after reaching there you can hire a pre-paid taxi to reach up to the city.

By Air

The closest airport in Gangtok is at Bagdogra which is about 124km away from airport after reaching there you can hire a pre-paid taxi to reach up to the city safely and comfortably.
